Riley will be writen out of the show on the 11th episode.
He was only to be in 4 episodes of the new season but that has now changed to 11.
Marc Blucas is departing half way through the season, specifically in episode 11. Plans are that inevitable break up will give Buffy an "I don't need a man" attitude as a result.

Michelle Tractenburg is to join the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The 14 year old actress who has starred a the title role in "Harriet the Spy" and as Penny in the "Inspector Gadget" film has been cast as "troubled child" Dawn, who develops a sisterlike realationship with Buffy. Dawn has some form of super natural power where she has visions that she has trouble dealing with. She is also said to develop a crush on Xander.

When the season opens Dawn is just there, and it's like she's been Buffy's sister all along. She's living in Buffy's house, has the same last name (Summers) and shares the same mom and dad. Everyone in the Scooby Gang has memories of a time they spent with Dawn. Basically, it creates this very bizarre mystery that won't be explained until episode five, when we find out that Dawn is, from another dimension.

Josh has described Dawn as "a nice vunerable kid, but capable of being a total brat. She occasionally goes into a kind of trance during which dark forces speak through her."

Rumour has it that Dawn may in fact be the 1st Slayer! .... I'm still waiting for Josh to explain that one ........

Whilst talking to KTLA5's breakfast news show in America, Nick Brendon revealed that he had been filming an episode of Buffy that involved him playing multiple characters.

In order to ease the process, filming had involved the use of Brendon's identical twin brother Kelly - an idea that had been popular with fans for some time.

If you were really ticked when Jenny Callendar (or Janna as the case may be) was killed you will be happy to hear this new spoiler...Joss says he may be thinking of bringing back the Robia La Morte who played her as Jenny's evil twin. She starts off in 'Angel' and tries to gain revenge for Jenny's Murder. Soon she realises that there is only one way to torture Angel...kill the slayer! This brings her to Sunnydale.

Joss Whedon confirmed to TV Guide that the crew is indeed in negotiations to try and bring English vampette Drusilla (Juliet Landau) back to "Buffy". About the possible return Whedon says "We have to make sure that it's the worst possible time for Spike. Also, we had problems the last time we tried to bring Dru back, talks fell through because of scheduling or something. So before we get into writing the story, we have to make sure that it's doable". Landau has also expressed interest in coming back - "There's so much dimension to the character, it's not just playing a straightforward villain. For instance, her relationship with Spike has a sweet side. So I'm definitely interested".
